History The Border Brewery was set up in Berwick-upon-Tweed in 1992 on the site of the original Border Brewery which dates back to 1777, in Brewery Lane Tweedmouth. The brewery changed ownership in 1994 when it was bought by the husband and wife team of Andy and Shona Burrows. The brewery went from strength to strength with regular favourites such as 'Rampart', and by 2000 were looking for larger premises and brewing capacity. In October 2000 the Hadrian and Border Brewery was formed by Shona and Andy of Border Brewery and an ex-director of The Four Rivers Brewery which had recently gone into liquidation. The new brewery moved to the Four Rivers 20 Barrel brew-plant, premises and brands including the Hadrian products on the site of the original Hadrian Brewery at Hawick Crescent Newcastle.. Today The brewery is now a limited company, Alnwick Ales Ltd, trading as The Hadrian & Border Brewery. The name change being as a result of the Brewery attempting to relocate to Alnwick in Northumberland.. The sole directors are now Andy and Shona Burrows. |
